Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., South Broward Alumnae Chapter (SBAC) is a public service organization committed to providing assistance and support to the South Broward community through its various established programs. Chartered on April 17, 2009 our service area is from the Atlantic Ocean to the Florida Everglades, and from the Miami-Dade County Line north to Griffin Road. Under the current leadership of Cassandra E. Joseph, SBAC’s President, we have made a huge impact on the South Broward community by contributing over 15,000 community service hours. In the last six years, we held several job fairs that attracted over 1,000 job-seeking candidates; we contributed over $15,000 to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life; we collected over 500 items for schools in Haiti and the Bahamas; we delivered over 200 gift boxes for Treats for the Troops; we continue to mentor and give scholarships to teenage girls in grades 9 – 12, who participate in our Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS program; and we host an annual Let’s Move event supporting the First Lady Michelle Obama’s initiative to eradicate childhood obesity. In addition, we have awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to students who attend school or reside in the South Broward community. The over 100 members of SBAC are committed to service as we follow in the footsteps of our beloved Founders.
